Her eyes return my gaze,
A gentle “Hello” at first glance.
Those chocolate brown coloured eyes,
So full of love and compassion.

Without a sound from my lips,
A solitary cry escapes.
Her serene marble-like stare,
Peers straight into my soul.

I linger for that feeling once more,
Just before she flutters with a blink.
The brown sheen covers me wholly,
Softer than silk upon my skin.

Contact calm, You feel me upon your face as you open the window. A soft breeze, So delicate to which a flower petal cannot compare. Whisper now, For that voice you hear in the air so euphonious. Blinding turn, A twist of rage begins my cycle, a force to reckon with. Wrathful howl, A cyclone of fury rips across, destruction in my wake. Slate Blue

Slate blue clouds cloak the dawn, crepuscular rays creeping round the blockade to wake songbirds and squirrels. The mill house wheel clacks and tumbles; yeast rises like a whisper. Only the blueberry thicket knows that the taste of sunlight keeps the bread warm.

You know how to be just skin. You know how to remove every molecule of air. Every molecule of the unknown. You can nail yourself to the juniper trees. You think you will. Stab through every callus with peels of that ragged bark. Your back to the gnarls. They catch fire so easily, you know.

Some stories I hear over and over again - Xerox computers, meeting well-known authors - but others I learn haphazardly, stumbling into tidbits and details like a newborn fawn - a junior year spent living on pancakes; a car accident; animating projects in the early days of Flash. You never told me you play bass, piano, guitar. And I worry - what other talents and footnotes are buried too far in the past to light up on my radar?
